Herb Baked Goat Cheese Salad
Sweet Potato Gnocchi
In the cozy Table 50, I started out with the Sweet Potato Gnocchi, and it hasn’t disappointed me yet. It is covered in smoked Gouda cream sauce, caramelized onions, and pieces of applewood smoked bacon
throughout. Serve this alongside the French bread and butter, and it is one that is rich in flavor, creamy, and not too filling, even though the gnocchi is a little dense.
The Herb-baked goat cheese salad was one that I really enjoyed, especially for something light and fresh. It is a spring mix with spiced pecans, apples, dried cherries and an herb-baked goat cheese in the center, served with a Dijon vinaigrette. The sweetness of the cherries and apples are delightful along with the crunch of the pecans and tangy Dijon vinaigrette; yet the goat cheese has the smooth richness that brings it all together.
Filet Bienville
I have tried the Blackened Ahi Tuna in the past and it was delicious, served with andouille sausage and crawfish risotto and asparagus garnish. But this visit I decided to try the special, which was the Filet Bienville. This was an 8 oz Filet Mignon topped with a parmesan seafood sauce, served over Yukon gold mashed potatoes and sautéed asparagus, with your choice of fried tiger shrimp or fried oysters. I chose the fried tiger shrimp and got the parmesan sauce on the side. The filet was so tender my knife glided through the thickness of the steak, probably one of the most tender filets I’ve had. The flavor was delicious! You could taste the char of the grill. The shrimp was large; however, the batter on the shrimp didn’t impress. They were a little greasy and not crispy, actually somewhat soggy, and actually fell off the shrimp while eating them. The potatoes are creamy and well-seasoned. Unfortunately, tonight’s asparagus was a little bitter and fell by the wayside.
I wish I had saved room for dessert. On my last visit, I had an incredible lemon cake that I was
hoping to find on the menu again, but sadly, it wasn’t available. Maybe next time, Table 50.
