If you ever find yourself in Corbin, Kentucky, the birthplace of Colonel Sanders’ Original Recipe Kentucky Fried Chicken, an unexpected adventure awaits you on Main Street at Seasons Restaurant. This hidden gem, open only for dinner, promises a unique dining experience.
From the moment you step through the doors of Seasons Restaurant, you’re transported to a bygone era. Crystal accents, flickering candles, and a grand chandelier greet you, setting the stage for an unforgettable meal. The ambiance is both elegant and cozy, with plush couches, animal print flooring, hanging wall tapestry, large picture windows, and a fireplace inviting you to relax and savor the moment.
I opted for the chef’s special, which was a Bourbon Salmon and a house tossed salad. I could have ordered just the salad and been happy. The salad was a good size and the freshness was amazing! The flavor of the Alaskan salmon was wonderful. It was clean and not fishy, cooked to perfection, but I feel like the bourbon sauce was a little overbearing on this one … a little less to let the flavor of the salmon come through and not cover it up. It was served over a bed of rice pilaf which was flavorful. My companion ordered the Black Angus Burger with fries. The burger had a good flavor, the bacon was crispy but the cheese could have been melted a bit more. Next time, I will try the salmon off the regular menu that is served over rice with a white wine and lemon sauce, or one of their salads as an entrée. They do offer the famous Kentucky Hot Brown, but it was only offered on Thursdays when I visited. The beer was served in an ice-frosted mug.
For dessert, I sampled the Cheesecake. While it lacked the “wow” factor, it was still tasty, It was a smothered in caramel and the cheesecake didn’t shine through on this one, but still satisfied my sweet tooth.
After dinner, you must venture into the rest of the building. The décor is incredible, with so many interesting and unique things to look at. Once again, you pass another set of doors adorned with lion heads into the land of Christmas. A life size Santa awaits, along with polar bears, Christmas trees, life sized reindeer, snowmen, nutcrackers, etc. It is truly a magical area twinkling with lights and snowflakes. Beyond the Christmas décor you will find a life-size lion that stands on a table. You can dine beneath deer or antelope, and surrounding the wildlife are clocks, trunks, clothing, couches, chandeliers, and more. So much to see! There are rooms to accommodate larger parties as well, including an Egyptian room that is well-adorned. Beyond these rooms is actually a jewelry store, but I didn’t look as it was closed during the time I was there.
Whether you’re a local or just passing through Corbin, Seasons Restaurant promises a very unique dining experience. This is truly a one-of-a-kind restaurant. From its rich history to its eclectic decor, it’s a dinner date you won’t soon forget. Make sure to add it to your list of must-visit restaurants, and prepare to be enchanted by the magic of Seasons.
