This is a good lunch spot for a quick bite to eat or to meet up
with friends. It’s located on Main Street and has outdoor seating which is awesome on a pretty
day. The inside is distinctive, with the original floors, brick, and woodwork around the
restaurant and behind the bar belonging to perhaps a past pharmacy.
The menu was just changed a couple days before I visited, and there are definitely some unique
pizza combinations on the menu, such as a Charcut-a-pie which was inspired by the textures
and flavors on a charcuterie board, along with Mexican Street Corn. They do have a lunch
special Monday through Friday from 11am-2pm for $10, which includes a personal 1-topping
pizza served with a small mama’s salad, or a buffalo chicken wrap, several different sandwiches,
chicken alfredo, or a caprese salad.
I would like to have tried the new pizza combination, but I wasn’t starving, and since the craft pizzas only come in medium, I opted for a classic pizza that comes in small, medium and large. The small is only 4 slices (6 inch pizza) and it is the perfect size for a lunch portion, so I chose a small The Works. This pizza was covered with toppings including pepperoni, bacon, ground beef, ham, onions, fresh mushrooms, green peppers, black olives and Italian sausage. They did not skimp on the toppings, but the crust … oh my goodness … this crust held up to the weight of the toppings even though it was thin. It was crispy and crunchy with every bite, and not greasy at all.
My companion chose the Spicy Italian and it was spectacular; spicy with serrano peppers,
capicola, pepperoni, meatball, over a spicy marinara with mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
The spice and flavor on this pizza was great, even though I did add some more crushed red
pepper. But I love the heat! Again, the crust was amazing on this small pizza as well.
The cocktails were not at the top of my list here. My companion chose the Wonkalicious, which was like adult chocolate milk served in a martini glass drizzled with chocolate. This is made with coconut rum, chocolate liqueur, heavy cream and bitters served with a toasted coconut rim and chocolate sprinkles. It was tasty and smooth, but there wasn’t a coconut rim or chocolate sprinkles, and it was a little pricey at $14 for what it was.
I chose the Strawberry Mule upon a recommendation. It was refreshing, but I didn’t get a lot of strawberry flavor in it. This was made with vodka and a house made strawberry syrup with mint and ginger beer. It did have a slice of lime, but again, this was missing the addition of mint. There’s something about a cocktail and visual along with flavors from the coated rims, fresh flowers, fruit or herbs adorned on the edge of the glass or atop the drink. I would definitely probably stick with a beer here, hence the name … Crust and Craft.
