Rick Erwin’s West End Grille is an upscale steakhouse located on Main Street in Greenville, SC. Be prepared to drop some money, but you are paying for quality here. The atmosphere is great for an intimate date or to celebrate a special occasion. You definitely get the royal treatment, and they are accommodating in all areas.
I started with the Hazelnut Cream Espresso Martini. This cocktail was SO easy to drink. It didn’t last long! It was smooth, creamy, and the hazelnut wasn’t overbearing. Definitely a great before or after dinner drink.
For my main menu, I chose the Signature Surf & Turf which comes with center cut filet mignon, company crab cake, whipped potatoes and asparagus. You can choose from a 4 oz, 7 oz, and 11 oz filet; they will also accommodate the crab cake for the BBQ shrimp. This is definitely a tough choice because both are phenomenal.
The crab cakes are made with lump crab and doesn’t have a lot of filler. The crab cake is literally 90% crab meat. The BBQ shrimp is three jumbo shrimp served over a grilled crouton and smothered with BBQ butter sauce. The sauce is something that needs to be bottled to dip everything in! The shrimp also can be ordered as an appetizer, and my server also mentioned the crab cakes can be ordered as an appetizer as well. Both are well worth the money.
On to the filet – their steaks come from Chicago, and the meat is in the top 2% in quality in the country… and you can tell that it is top quality! The potatoes and asparagus are delicious with this steak and seafood combo.
I did get a Key Lime Pie for dessert. It wasn’t my favorite key lime pie, but it was good, creamy, and topped with meringue. Next visit I will probably opt for a different dessert.
