Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse has become one of my favorite dining destinations, and it’s not just because of the renowned steaks. The happy hour at Ruth’s Chris has become one of my favorites. It is available only in the bar and patio area, and is offered from 4-6pm every day (except Saturdays). It operates on a first-come, first-serve basis, which creates a lively and energetic atmosphere for guests. No reservations are accepted.
Lemon Drop & Blueberry Mojito
The Raspberry Cosmo remains one of my favorites. It is on the lighter side as far as calories go, and is very refreshing. The Pomegranate Martini is a close second, along with the Lemon Drop, both of which are on the happy hour menu. The Pomegranate comes with a sugar rim, but isn’t too sweet. The Lemon Drop isn’t too tangy. If you are a mojito person, you have to try the Blueberry Mojito These are my go-to drinks at Ruth’s Chris. All three go down very easy and are worth the price and every sip. They don’t skimp on the alcohol!
Spicy Shrimp
The spicy shrimp, butterflied and lightly fried, are one of my favorite appetizers from the HH menu. They are drenched in a spicy cream sauce (but not too spicy) that strikes the perfect balance. Paired with a light, crunchy cucumber salad, it’s a flavorful start to the evening. The Seared Ahi Tuna, cooked to perfection with a tangy mustard beer sauce, is a personal favorite that can even make a light, healthy meal. It is also served with the cucumber salad.
Seared Ahi Tuna & Cheeseburger
Ruth’s Chris offers more than just steaks for its happy hour. The Steak Sandwich, featuring sliced filet served on crusty French garlic bread with béarnaise sauce, is a satisfying meal option. Minimal toppings allow the natural flavor to shine. For a gluten-sensitive option, I have also enjoyed just eating the steak off the bread.
Although it sounds simple, the burger is also a good option. It is a thick ground sirloin cut prepared the way you like. The toppings are very basic, but it doesn’t need much because the flavor is exceptional. In fact, it has become one my favorite burgers, if you opt for bacon, you will receive bacon bits. Add a side of fries and this is a satisfying meal.
After eating these appetizers, I rarely have room left for dessert. But ending the meal on a sweet note, the Chocolate Sin Cake, a flourless cake with chocolate ganache and raspberry sauce, is a good option. Its rich enough to share with someone and very satisfying for your sweet tooth! Paired with an espresso martini, it provides the perfect ending to a delightful evening. The bartender made my espresso martini to my liking of more cream than coffee, and it was exactly that… creamy and chocolatey!
Even though Ruth’s Chris is known as a steakhouse, I very seldom come here to get a steak. They do have a HH option for a Filet & Cabernet. Although I have eaten the Filet off both the HH menu and regular menu, I haven’t been overly impressed with the flavor of the steak for the price. If I do order the steak, I typically get it medium well. It comes out piping hot and perfectly cooked, but I have enjoyed better flavor at other steakhouses. Another dish that Ruth’s Chris is supposedly known for is their lobster mac and cheese. I haven’t had this recently but, in my opinion, it is a little pricey for the amount of lobster mixed in the mac and cheese. I don’t particularly want to pay a high price just for pasta, even though it is a large portion. The cheese sauce is creamy, and it heats up well, it’s just not worth the money to me.
They do offer options for specialty diets, whether it is gluten free, keto, vegetarian or lighter options. Despite not actually ordering their steak very often, Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse remains one of my top picks for dinner. The atmosphere, array of options, and the happy hour experience contribute to its status as a culinary haven. The recent remodel in the dining room and bar area, along with the picturesque deck seating overlooking the river, has elevated the dining experience.
Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse goes beyond its steakhouse label, offering a multifaceted dining experience that caters to diverse tastes and preferences. Whether you’re sipping a happy hour cocktail, savoring appetizers, or indulging in dessert, Ruth’s Chris has something delicious to offer most everyone.
