This is a must when in Chattanooga! Hennen’s is serving up steaks, seafood and an extensive wine list. The atmosphere here is definitely a celebratory spot for a special occasion, romantic evening, or date night.
The cocktails are smooth and utterly delightful. Take the Blucumber, for example. Initially, I was skeptical about the mix of cucumbers and blueberries, but it’s a combination I’ve come to appreciate, having ordered it again on subsequent visits. The flavors of cucumber and blueberry are balanced perfectly—they complement each other without overwhelming the palate. It’s a refreshing choice if you’re looking to try something unique.
Another standout is the Raspberry Lemonade, crafted with raspberry vodka, Chambord, and freshly squeezed lemonade. It’s evident from the first sip that the ingredients are top-notch, making this cocktail a real winner. Lastly, don’t miss the Blondie—a delightful concoction of rum, tuaca, peach schnapps, and pineapple juice that creates a truly special blend.
For an appetizer, you cannot come here and not try the Smoked Salmon Dip. This is truly a favorite! The ingredients are simple, yet the salmon has such a good flavor along with lemon, dill, sour cream and chives all mixed together and served with toasted brioche bread; this is definitely a good way to get your dinner started.
For the main course, I had the Petit Filet Mignon Oscar, allowing me to at least try a couple different things. This is served with a five-ounce filet mignon, crab cake, shrimp scampi, mashed Yukon gold potatoes, grilled asparagus and a red wine demi-glaze sauce. This dish doesn’t disappoint! In my opinion, you get the best of both worlds … steak and seafood. The crab cake here is very hearty and meaty and the shrimp is divine, jumbo, and served atop the perfectly cooked petit steak. Next, complement the main dish with the delicious sides of mashed potatoes and asparagus. I have often contemplated another entrée, but this one keeps me coming back. As I like to think … it’s more bang for my buck too.
For dessert, I opted for a Raspberry Lemon Cheesecake. I cannot say I was overly impressed with this one. It was just your typical cheesecake with lemon curd and raspberry compote with fresh raspberries and whipped cream.
